O avião da FAB (Força Aérea Brasileira) que foi a Punta Arenas, no Chile, resgatar os brasileiros que estavam no incêndio da Estação Antárctica Comandante Ferraz, deve chegar ao Rio de Janeiro neste domingo (25), de acordo com o Ministério da Defesa.
O ministro da Defesa, Celso Amorim, confirmou a morte do suboficial Carlos Alberto Vieira Figueiredo e do sargento Roberto Lopes dos Santos. Eles participavam do grupo de apoio que tentava apagar o incêndio originado na casa de máquinas da base.
“Num ato de heroísmo, eles estiveram justamente no local de maior risco, na tentativa de debelar o incêndio e não conseguiram. Todos os pesquisadores e funcionários civis foram resgatados e já se encontram no continente, no Chile, e amanhã já devem estar de volta ao Brasil”, disse Amorim
