Logo of the NSA, U.S. security agency who earned the nickname of "Never Say Anything" (Never Say Nothing) / / Credit: Reproduction. In the Terminator series, the greatest threat was not the powerful cyborg sent to kill John Connor, but a larger entity, which controlled a network of robots and fed a war against humans, Skynet. In the movie, the software created at the end of the twentieth century is able to control the entire U.S. defense system that eventually rebelled against their creators and uses all the knowledge and structure provided by the Americans to try to annihilate the species. Now experts from around the world wonder if Skynet a real-world is being created in the middle of the desert in Utah. Is the NSA (National Security Agency) of the United States is building a huge structure out there that promises to collect and store data from organizations, governments and even you, an ordinary citizen. What data? Everyone.Card purchases, phone calls, emails, websites accessed, books you're reading ... ie everything you do, purchase and consume. With new technologies and advanced encryption, the Utah Data Center can access information from anyone or anything that has access to satellite communications.War on TerrorismThe UDC is part of the "Total Information Awarenewss" created in the Bush administration, which since the attack on the World Trade Center has already spent tens of millions of dollars in anti-terrorism measures. Just this huge center in the desert will cost $ 2 billion. The astronomical price is due to the fact that the UDC will be a freestanding structure, which means he will be able to generate their own electricity, with a substation located in the structure. Moreover, it can store water and enough food to keep your staff up to three days. All equipment and services that exist there make the required size so that the building fulfills its purposes is enormous: more than 65 thousand square meters, which should be properly constructed and occupied by September 2013.To give you an idea of the kind of machine that will host the UCD, the goal is that they are capable of storing data in Yottabytes (10 to 24 power) - a unit so large that it does not have named that comes after it.All this capability is necessary because, in addition to receive, analyze and store data from across the web, it is expected that the UDC can do this on a scale far greater than if he were running today, since the number of Internet users will grow very in the coming years.According to a report from Cisco, for example, in 2015 we will have four times more people with access to the Internet than in 2010.To "process" all this information, a company called Narus has created software capable of scanning 10 gigabytes per second and then automatically copy any suspicious communications. You will be investigated - learn howAfter that the center collects, analyzes and separates all the data, "Data Mining" begins - a set of programs that will join the NSA automatically judges and create interesting patterns that can predict how you behave. It seems absurd? Know that Data Mining is already being used by research agencies today, albeit with a much smaller amount of data. For example, PUCRJ recently discovered, using the technique that women who worked, when approved in your exam with good grades, they would hardly registration. This is because probably passed at a public university and the fact that they will work indicates that preference for free education. The example is simple, but can you imagine what kind of patterns can be traced to them when you collect data from an entire country - or the world. What most women when shopping for PMS? The NSA will know through their accounts.Where a city's Muslims will be on Thursday? The NSA has all the emails and parking receipts to trace a pattern of behavior. To whom will you turn to tell all the gossip of the ballad of the last Saturday? The NSA knows - and will also stay on top of all bafos.According to the Public Relations office of the NSA, the organization will not spy on the lives of American civilians - let alone the rest of the civilian world. And, in a session in Congress on the subject, held in March, the director general of the NSA, Keith Alexander, confirmed the statement that there is no rooting interest in the lives of ordinary people."Only we care about the cybersecurity of the population," he said. The question is what will be considered a threat to public security.
