O DIA NACIONAL DA CONSCIENCIA NEGRA

ZUMBI DOS PALMARES

O Dia Nacional da Consciência Negra é celebrado em 20 de novembro no Brasil e é dedicado à reflexão sobre a inserção do negro na sociedade brasileira.

A semana dentro da qual está esse dia recebe o nome de Semana da Consciência Negra.

A data foi escolhida por coincidir com o dia da morte de Zumbi dos Palmares, em 1695.

O Dia da Consciência Negra procura ser uma data para se lembrar a resistência do negro à escravidão de forma geral, desde o primeiro transporte de africanos para o solo brasileiro (1594).

Algumas entidades como o Movimento Negro (o maior do gênero no país) organizam palestras e eventos educativos, visando principalmente crianças negras.

Procura-se evitar o desenvolvimento do auto-preconceito, ou seja, da inferiorização perante a sociedade.

Outros temas debatidos pela comunidade negra e que ganham evidência neste dia são: inserção do negro no mercado de trabalho, cotas universitárias, se há discriminação por parte da polícia, identificação de etnias, moda e beleza negra, etc.

O dia é celebrado desde a década de 1960, embora só tenha ampliado seus eventos nos últimos anos.

Zumbi Palmares

A cidade do Carmo teve surgimento entre os dias 26 e 29 de maio de 1832, quando uma plêiade de colonos, residentes nesta área; Norte do Estado do rio de Janeiro, que naquela época denominada de Província do Rio de Janeiro, nesta região serrana, resolveram fazer uma derrubada no local, em terras de sesmarias, que quer dizer que eram terras pertencentes ao Império.

Liderados pelo colono Alexandre de Mello, foram estes os seguintes proprietários que também doaram suas terras para que se construíssem, um arraial e um povo: João Henriques Monteiro, Joaquim Antônio Corrêa Neto, João Antônio de Carvalho, João Teixeira da Rocha, Germano Ferreira de Carvalho e Valeriano Maurício de Miranda, principais, proprietários nesta fértil zona, então pertencentes ao município de Cantagalo.

Mandaram fazer uma derrubada onde surgiria o Arraial da Samambaia, que logo depois passou a ser conhecido como Arraial de Cantagalo.

Devido à grande fé cristã que se observou aqui, o lugar passou a ser conhecido como Freguesia de Nossa Senhora do monte do Carmo e ganhou o nome de Villa do Carmo de Cantagalo.

Mais tarde, Villa do Carmo e depois da sua Emancipação Político-Administrativa em 13 de Outubro de 1881, e finalmente CARMO quando a vila passou à categoria de CIDADE em 12 de Dezembro de 1889, título que perdura até os dias de hoje.

Significado do Nome :

A história do município se inicia com a construção de uma capela em homenagem a Nossa Senhora do Carmo, em 30 de janeiro de 1634, em terras doadas por fazendeiros da região.

122 ANOS DE PROCLAMAÇÃO DA REPUBLICA

No dia 15 de novembro de 1889, o Marechal Deodoro da Fonseca, com o apoio dos republicanos, demitiu o Conselho de Ministros e seu presidente.

Na noite deste mesmo dia, o marechal assinou o manifesto proclamando a República no Brasil e instalando um governo provisório.

A proclamação ocorreu na Praça da Aclamação (atual Praça da República), na cidade do Rio de Janeiro, então capital do Império do Brasil, quando um grupo de militares do exército brasileiro, liderados pelo marechal Deodoro da Fonseca, destituiu o imperador e assumiu o poder no país.

Após 67 anos, a monarquia chegava ao fim.

No dia 18 de novembro, D.Pedro II e a família imperial partiam rumo à Europa.

Foi instituído, naquele mesmo dia 15, um governo provisório republicano.

Faziam parte, desse governo, organizado na noite de 15 de novembro de 1889, o marechal Deodoro da Fonseca como presidente da república e chefe do Governo Provisório; o marechal Floriano Peixoto como vice-presidente; como ministros, Benjamin Constant Botelho de Magalhães, Quintino Bocaiuva, Rui Barbosa, Campos Sales, Aristides Lobo, Demétrio Ribeiro e o almirante Eduardo Wandenkolk, todos membros regulares da maçonaria brasileira.

A partir de então, o pais seria governado por um presidente escolhido pelo povo através das eleições.

Foi um grande avanço rumo a consolidação da democracia no Brasil.
