INCA RELEVA QUE CANCER DE PROSPATA SERA MAIS COMUN ENTRE OS HOMEMS EM 2012
O Instituto Nacional de Câncer José Alencar Gomes da Silva (Inca) divulgou um dado preocupante: nos próximos dois anos, cerca de um milhão de brasileiros receberão o diagnóstico de câncer no País.
Estima-se que os novos casos da doença devam atingir 50,8% dos homens, sendo o câncer de próstata a doença mais comum entre eles.
As estatísticas apontam para a necessidade de ações públicas de conscientização em relação à importância do rastreamento e da detecção precoce, de modo a oferecer um melhor prognóstico dos casos identificados.
Além disso, o Inca, que há pouco tempo tinha questionado o exame de rastreamento, voltou a ter posicionamento favorável, pois é uma das formas mais eficazes de descobrir o tumor em estágio inicial e, consequentemente, conseguir maior sucesso no tratamento.
“As novas estatísticas devem contribuir para o conhecimento do que é a doença, como podemos tratá-la, além da importância do rastreamento precoce, pois em qualquer tipo de câncer, com um diagnóstico tardio é sempre mais difícil de tratar”, comenta o Dr. Anderson Silvestrini, presidente da Sociedade Brasileira de Oncologia (SBOC) em São Paulo.
Tão importante quanto o diagnóstico precoce é a forma de tratamento e, em qualquer que seja o tipo de câncer, desmistificar o temor que ainda existe em torno da doença que tem boas chances de cura.
“Com as novas descobertas, tratamentos individualizados de acordo com a linha histológica e drogas cada vez mais avançadas e alvoespecíficas, as taxas de remissão ou cura são hoje uma realidade incontestável, ao mesmo tempo em que a qualidade de vida do paciente é cada vez maior”, destaca o Dr. Silvestrini.
Para o câncer de próstata, por exemplo, a medicina conta com alternativas cada vez menos dolorosas que aumentam a resposta do paciente ao tratamento.
Uma dessas substâncias é o acetato de leuprorrelina. Comercializado como Eligard® e com aplicação subcutânea, proporciona maior conforto ao paciente.

SOL LANÇA FORTE TEMPESTADE GEOMAGNÉTICA SOBRE A TERRA
A tempestade geomagnética mais forte em mais de seis anos deve atingir a Terra na terça-feira, e pode afetar as rotas aéreas, redes de energia e satélites, disse o Centro de Previsão Meteorológica Espacial dos Estados Unidos.
A ejeção de massa coronal - uma grande parte da atmosfera do Sol - foi lançada em direção à Terra no domingo, conduzindo partículas solares energizadas a cerca de 2.000quilômetros por segundo, cerca de cinco vezes mais rápido do que costumam viajar as partículas solares, disse Terry Onsager, do Centro.
"Quando nos atingir será como um grande aríete que empurra o campo magnético da Terra", disse Onsager, de Boulder, no Colorado. "Essa energia faz com que o campo magnético da Terra flutue".
Essa energia também pode interferir em comunicações de alta frequência de rádio, usadas pelas empresas aéreas para navegar próximo ao Polo Norte em voos entre a América do Norte, Europa e Ásia, portanto algumas rotas podem ser mudadas, disse Onsager.
Também pode afetar redes de energia e operações por satélite, disse o Centro em um comunicado. Astronautas a bordo da Estação Espacial Internacional podem ser aconselhados a buscar abrigo em partes específicas da aeronave para evitar uma dose solar reforçada de radiação, disse Onsager.
O Centro de Meteorologia Espacial disse que a intensidade da tempestade geomagnética seria provavelmente moderada ou forte, nos níveis dois e três de uma escala de cinco níveis, sendo o cinco o mais extremo.

The strongest geomagnetic storm in more than six years should reach Earth on Tuesday and could affect air routes, power grids and satellites, said the Space Weather Prediction Center of the United States. The coronal mass ejection - a much of the Sun's atmosphere - was launched toward Earth on Sunday, leading solar particles energized about 2.000 quilômetros per second, about five times faster than the solar particles usually travel, said Terry Onsager of the Center.
" When we reach will be a huge ram that pushes the Earth's magnetic field, "said Onsager, Boulder, Colorado. "This energy causes the Earth's magnetic field fluctuates.

The Space Weather Center said the intensity of the geomagnetic storm was likely to be moderate or strong levels two and three of a five-point scale, five being the most extreme.
